JEF-Europe is looking for a Project Manager (Office based in Brussels)

It is a full-time work position for a period of 15 months at the European Secretariat in Brussels aiming at the coordination of the youth information project Europe@myDesk.

Function description:
- coordination and implementation of a project involving 20 information and training events for young people and youth workers all over Europe (including preparatory and follow-up meetings)
- coordination of a pool of trainers involved in the project and occasional training activities during the events;
- communication with the involved local partner organizations;
- organisation of seminars and other campaign activities;
- involvement in the financial management of the project;
- support to the international and local fundraising activities;
- final reporting of the project.

Preferred experience and qualification:
- extensive experience in NGO activities, youth training and project management;
- strong interest for issues related to the European integration process;
- written and spoken fluency in English is a precondition;
- outstanding communication and training skills;
- good knowledge of editing and publishing software and commitment for improvement;
- good experience with financial project management;
- good experience with project and financial reporting.

JEF-Europe offers an interesting position in an international environment, a relaxed working atmosphere and a high degree of independence in day-to-day work. The project manager should have initiative, personal commitment, and experience in youth organizations.
Extensive travelling and occasional weekend work is required. The new project manager should start in the JEF-Europe Brussels' Secretariat in March 2008 (flexible) for a period of fifteen months. Competitive compensation offered.

Café Europa tisdag 18 november

Senaste tiden har frågan om införande av euron i Sverige aktualiserats på nytt med utspel och ställningstaganden från de olika partierna. När är tiden egentligen mogen för en ny folkomröstning och vilka skäl finns för Sverige att gå med i eller att vänta med euron?

Unga Européer bjuder in till ett Café Europa om Sverige och euron tisdagen 18/11 kl 18. Vi diskuterar frågan tillsammans med bl a Linus Samuelsson från Socialdemokratiska studentförbundet. Lokalen är Stora Nygatan 2 A, 2 tr.

FC i Riga och möte med EUIA

Helgen 31 okt-2 nov ägde höstens Federal Committee rum i Riga. Nationella representanter och FC-medlemmar från hela Europa samlades för att fatta beslut om gemensamma ståndpunkter och kommande aktiviteter. Unga Européer i Sverige företräddes av undertecknad. Bland annat antogs ett gemensamt manifest inför Europaparlamentsvalet i juni 2009.

I fredags hade jag också ett möte med Kristine och Sandra från EUIA - Lettlands EU-informationsmyndighet. De var på besök i Stockholm för att studera hur EU-kommunikationen såg ut i Sverige. Jag berättade om vår verksamhet och Unga Européers roll. Det var även intressant att få höra lite mer om situationen i Lettland och hur de uppfattade kommunikationen i Sverige. Bland annat upplevde de att de olika svenska organisationerna och myndigheterna till stor del arbetade var för sig, medan man samordnade mer i Lettland.

European Kaleidoscope - picture your Europe and win 700 euro!

What does Europe really look like – and who are the Europeans?

This is the subject in an up-coming photo book on the countries of the European Union. And you can contribute!

All you have to do is capture your European home country by taking 4 photographs expressing 4 different things:

1) My country
2) The history of my country
3) The future of my country
4) Portrait (of yourself, your family or anybody else from your country)

Send your pictures (300 dpi pictures), a short comment to each of your pictures, a bit about yourself, and name, address and email to The Danish European Movement (eubev@eubev.dk) before 31th of January 2009. Everyone who sends in pictures has the chance to win a 700 euro travel gift certificate and to contribute to the book. The best pictures are chosen by a jury, and the photographer will receive the gift certificate immediately.

INTERN VACANCIES at JEF-Europe

Do you want to shape the Europe of tomorrow? Then we have what you want!
Join the JEF-Europe Secretariat as an intern for a period of 2 or 4 months and discover the free-spirited and open-minded JEF members dancing along the vibes of a united Europe.
JEF is an organisation of young people from all over Europe who share a vision of a united, federal and democratic Europe. We bring together people at local, regional, national and European level to campaign for a federal Europe based on the values of peace, democracy and the rule of law. We organise seminars, conferences, campaigns, street activities and lobbying activities to achieve the goal of a European federation.
JEF is currently offering two part-time unpaid internships, one for the duration of 2 months and one for the duration of 4 months. The successful candidates will be working at the European Secretariat of JEF in Brussels together with the Secretary General.
The main tasks include (depending on the duration of the internship one of the following):
Assisting with daily administrative tasks
Assisting with the organisation of events and conferences devoted to the launch of JEF’s European Elections campaign
Assisting with preparations for JEF pan-European actions (e.g. Belarus action)
Updating of databases and internet site(s)
Contributing to the JEF Newsletter and our online magazine thenewfederalist.eu
Communication to JEF sections in more than 30 European countries
We are looking forward to welcome an enthusiastic team player willing to work on own initiative, preferably a student, knowledge and/or experience of the European institutions and policies as well as good administrative and IT skills. An excellent command of English is also required. Knowledge of other EU languages is an asset. You should have experience in volunteer engagement and be passionate about European affairs. We are a dynamic team that looks forward to your contribution and to your own initiatives.

Det kom ett brev...

De svenska representanterna i EU-parlamentets anarkorasistgrupp IND/DEM, Junifjantarna, har skickat brev till Unga Européer.

Brevet, som innehöll två "rapporter" i pocketformat, båda med åtminstone något textavsnitt av Nils Lundgren, förklarar att de gärna vill att mottagaren ska sprida ordet vidare om dessa böckers existens.

Så, som tack för brevet: dessa böcker existerar.

Vad de heter känns inte särdeles nödvändigt att diskutera. Rimligen innehåller de ungefär lika mycket relevans som ett ex av Kalle Anka & C:o och lika mycket objektiv sanning som valfri tidskrift från vilket "riktigt" parti som helst.

Saker jag hellre talar om med Gula Pricken:
1. Varför skickar ni dessa böcker till en uttalat EU-positiv organisation?

2. Har ni missat att hela världen kämpar för att minska människans påverkan på miljön, eller leker ni tvärtom-leken bara för att det är kul?

3. Vilket spånhuvud kom på idén att skicka ert eldstadsbränsle till Unga Européer?

4. Till vilken adress ska vi skicka JEF Europe's samlade pressmeddelanden 1980-2007 för er kännedom?

5. Gissa varför Castro inte skickar dagliga ex av Granma till Bush? Gissa också varför jag ställer frågan.

Jag kan kanske eller kanske inte tala för alla Unga Européers förtroendevalda men tro mig ändå på mitt ord: vi är inte ska-vi-säga helt rätt organisation för ert låtsasparti att fiska röster hos.

Så, vänligen, spara på miljön och era rikemanstillgångar och skicka inga obskyra skrifter till oss i framtiden.

Café Europa onsdag 3 september

Onsdag den 3 september anordnar Unga Européer höstens första Café Europa, dit alla unga européer, federalister och europavänner är välkomna för att träffas och samtala om aktuella frågor. Detta är en återkommande aktivitet första onsdagen i månaden framöver.
Vi träffas kl 17 på Café Ritorno, Odengatan 80 i Stockholm.
